Multi-step process for selecting strategic sourcing options when designing supply chains

Purpose: This paper, devoted to the selection of strategic sourcing options as a part supply chain design, aims provide designers with guidelines for selecting best option each item (i.e., products, modules, parts and services).Design/methodology/approach: The study is based on review literature options, buyer-supplier relationships, factors criteria select strategy well authors experience in this field.Findings: We propose multi-step process by considering three dimensions (who how many will make item; cases outsourcing, kind relationship between buyer supplier(s); where be made) together characteristics context, demand product, relevant evaluate them.Originality/value: main contributions are services) provided step process.
